I have a big monstera that I’ve had for probably 15 years. The other day I gave it some fertiliser and a few days later the whole thing flopped over. I thought I’d ruined it but I now think it’s just outgrown the original pole and is too top heavy to hold itself upright.

What would you call a pole like this? Where would you find one? Does it have to be a particular kind of wood or treated or not or anything else I might need to know?

I think I’d rather the aesthetics of timber over one of those coconut coir poles.

We use wooden stakes for our big Monsteras. Agree they look better than the coconut poles. Bunnings sell the stakes fairly cheaply. Growies brand

In a video a saw someone put a trellis on the wall to support the plant instead of a pole. It looked great and it looked very steady for the plant. Alternatively there is the trellis method directly in the pot: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pdO4UklFm4o](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pdO4UklFm4o)
