Hi everyone! I was needing some help for how to take care of this little one. It bloomed a little while ago but then seems like those blooms are dying off….? I was watering it incorrectly at first so I wonder if maybe that’s the cause or overwatering or maybe some root rot?

Or is this part of its normal bloom cycle? This is my first time having one. I was planning to repot it soon into something just slightly bigger

Any help appreciated ☺️

Blooms don’t last that long so that normal that they die off. You can remove the bloom stalks. Are all the leaves firm?

Those blooms are faded, just gently twist the stem and they should pop off!

It still sorta looks over watered based on the color of the leaves. I soak/bottom water my semiminis/minis for about 15 minutes twice a week and then leave them dry. I know when my violets need water based on how light the pot feels. Yours may need watering more or less frequently than mine, it’s dependent on what soil mix you have and how hot/humid your space is.

This *is* a natural part of the bloom cycle, but you need to fertilize it to get it to flower again. I use Jack’s Classic African Violet fertilizer, which can either be fed every time your plants are watered or once every two weeks as part of a normal watering regimen. There are instructions for the dilution rates on the back of the container.

Don’t repot into something larger. AVs are susceptible to root rot in oversized pot and typically don’t bloom, even if properly watered. The pot needs to be 1/3 the width of the widest leaves, max.

    Good luck!
