10 Small Garden Mistakes That Make Your Yard Look Cheap

  1. The first shot pans by a garden that had lots of different colors and it was beautiful. Multicolors can be fabulous ; don't have to stick to 2 colors or the same shape.

  2. Made it to your first tip. Different plants look better in different pots. There isn't a one for all style. Turned it off after.

  3. THIS IS GENIUS !!!!!!!! Thanks for the idea of hiding mismatched pots. #8 – that garden fabric is OK because it slows down the weeds for YEARS. However, I use it in the backyard (out of sight). I’m going to check your other videos.
    “NOISE”= 🎯

  4. Suck a d about the mismatch pots. I don’t decorate my house for your pleasure. I decorate it for mine.

  5. All this is very true…I have learned along the way. …and I get compliments on my yard. I see a lot of these mistakes as I drive and while they do catch your eye….its not catching in a good way. I have a private fenced area on part side and part back of the house where I have all the pots and things I like….just for me to see…. Looks chaotic, but for me only- Florida

  6. Looks intentional? Designed? My design is whatever I like. Different pots, different colors, repurposed furniture, mismatched stones, and randomly thrown wild flower seeds 😂 This guy would hate my garden, but the Monarchs, bees, hummingbirds and blue birds love it❤

  7. The only two things I really don't like in gardens is white rock, or tires used as pots or lined across the edges of a yard. I'm so glad I don't live in a desert area anymore!

  8. I think this all depends on the purpose of your garden. Waist high wild flowers, left to run rampant, in all the colours of the rainbow would be appropriate if your intent was to attract more birds and insects. The design choices in this video seem to be more about creating a sense of peace and relaxation. I agree that those wild flowers paired with a bunch of random pots and no consideration of layering could very quickly read as an abandoned lot to the neighbours. Paired with the information in this video, I think it would be possible to balance beauty with the original intent. Thank you for the very simple to understand information.

  9. All the rules of interior decoration (and clothing !) apply to gardens : you do not buy just what you like. You follow a plan, a color scheme, an INTENTION. That is called TASTE. The rest is cheap looking chaos.

  10. My garden is an ongoing thing. I want black eye susans and it seems to be bunnies bit the ones started last year and then you can't get starter ones. So I planted seeds before winter and hoped for these flowers this year. Rabbits don't like them only bunnies just bite off the flower and spit them out. Ugh. Hopefully I will get these flowers it would mean the world to me.

  11. I'm not trying to make my yard look like a plant factory and I am definitely not spending my hard earned money on matching pots. I'm growing to spend less money and live a circular lifestyle rather than just adding on to the landfill.

  12. The pots DO have something to do with each other – they were all pots you loved when you bought them. Who gives a sht what other people think?

  13. That’s not true I have mismatched pots no one noticed it because they love my flowers. They can’t believe that they are in the pots because they noticed the beautiful colours not the pots. No one noticed the straight flower bed either.

  14. Great tips overall. Don't care for the inappropriate shots, though. Triggered commenters proved your point😂.

  15. Well, I agree to an extent. Most of the “mistakes” mentioned are not “mistakes”, they’re personal choices and preferences. Choosing a plant that grows too tall? That’s a mistake. Building a deck on the ground with the wrong material? That’s a mistake. Using mismatched pots or having too many focal points is not a mistake if it brings you whatever it is you’re looking for. Why turn something enjoyable into a task that has to adhere to a specific set of rules? Just why?

  16. When I'm transplanting I'm looking for the biggest pots so my plant doesn't die lol I don't care what color because your flowers are gonna to pop so much you won't even notice containers

  17. I live on a windy hill where I planted different Juniper plants in my backyard many years ago. The ivy on the sound barrier/retaining wall had taken over one of my small corner trees. Cutting back the ivy led to the discovery of a lot of dead branches, once the dead growth was cut away it gave me a skeleton tree with patches of healthy areas. I decorated the limbs with cute birdhouses. I also have colorful spinners along my fences with Solar lights to prevent intrusion. I love sitting in my yard watching the birds, butterflies, ladybugs, hummingbirds, dragonflies and even small lizards 🦎 exploring the yard.
