I got very mad because I told him to never ever do that to any of my plants. He just had to 😡. He said it’s spilling water onto the deck… can he not?

PS: the deck is ekodeck, made of composite recycled plastic.

PPS: it’s been raining all week, everything is wet. The deck, the plants, outdoor furniture.

Well, that or grounds for murder. No jury would convict you ….I might be persuaded to help…

If I told my partner that something is important to me and to not ever “destroy” it but they still did. I don’t know but that’s sounds like a lack of respect or the partner doesn’t care what is important to me.

Damn. That’s plain disrespect to knowingly go against your partners wishes without a single conversation first. I’m so sorry for your plant’s chopped haircut.

  4. KoffieCreamer

That’s certainly an interesting choice by your husband. That is a next level of disrespect.

I always find this sort of thing passive-aggressive. It’s your plant – why would he mess with it?

  6. You can pretty clearly see there’s concentration of water from the plant spillage. He shouldn’t have cut your plant, but at the same time it also sounds like this isn’t the first time he’s had this conversation with you either.

You need to come to a compromise. Clean the water off the deck or trim it so it isn’t causing water damage

I have left people for less…

Your feelings are valid. He went against your wishes and he trimmed a plant that he knows you love and care for, I would be so upset too. I’m very attached to my plants especially the ones I’ve had for years and have watched grow. I’m sorry 😔

  9. See the positive in the situation: it will regrow bushier and fullier !! And now you have a good excuse to pull a baaad shaving prank on your husband 😈

Girl this belongs r/relationship advice, you wanna vent because you chose a potato that cuts your plants.

  11. I’d probably be a little upset as well, but rubber trees love a good topping! I chop all of mine at some point. It hurts even doing it intentionally

  12. It needed an adjustment it will be fine Karen

He likes how stuff looks, you understand nature and how it should grow, buy him a plant and ask him to keep it alive and thriving so he understands why your upset

  14. Wow, that is such a giant rubber tree. How could he do that just to make the deck less wet when it rains? He is stupid and he forgot happy wife happy life!
If my partner said she loved a plant, I would change the deck for the plant!

When people ask why I live separately from my boyfriend and why I’ll never get married again… I couldn’t keep a plant alive when I was married for 15 years. Now I have 40+ happy plants.

When will the divorce be finalized?

Im sorry. My husband pulled out my beautiful Peony when we first moved to our house. He said he would get me another one, but never did. Then a few years ago my spider plant was pushing out a baby and he ripped it off bc it was sticking out. The plant never produced another and then died. I told him not to ever touch, water, or move a plant without talking to me first.

  18. its in a pot?!? and his first instinct was to cut it down rather than move it a few metres left or right?

… what the fuck is that guy’s problem. sorry op that truly sucks

  19. Gravy-Train1

Was it like a chop or just leaves?😳 my wife would never hear the end of it…..for a week.. lol but if he cut it at the stem can you prop it in water and make another plant to partially inconvenience him?
I’d call it the ultimate spite lol

I mean could be nothing but you should examine whether this is a pattern. Like is he generally disrespectful of things you like? Do things like this happen frequently after arguments? Yeah he apologized but was that just to get the heat off.

Rubber plants are actually trees. They will grow very tall and branch out to form a canopy. I know it’s upsetting how he disrespected you, but it might make you feel a little better to know that the plant will be just fine despite his aggressive pruning.
