So question. First time grower here. I started DWC with fems. Then started a few autos in bioflower soil. Was gifted a Headbanger 99. My DWC grew outta control so I just upgraded from a 3×3 to a 5×5. Also upgrade to a 750w light
What do you guys find works for you? Ease of grow? Yield?
When it comes to none autos. What do you prefer regular? Triploids? Fems? My nutrient schedule has been working really well so far for me.
BUT been having a major issue chilling the water and water bottles are tedious. Is it worth just biting the bullet and getting a water chiller?

Feminized photos . I hate autos but it’s a personal preference. They just aren’t for me. I spent about a year and grew nothing but autos and what I found was 95% of them (I grew about 18 altogether) took about 3 to 5 weeks longer to fully mature. I had one take 16 weeks..that’s flower time not veg and flower. A few of them had lost all the damn fan leaves by week 14 and they just wanted to die but the trichs werent even totally milky. They have come a long way but y’all can have them.
I prefer to grow from clone. Another reason I don’t like autos. I like to keep mother plants and run a sog with just clones that have vegged for about 12 days, and then flipped. Its pretty much the easiest way to grow for me. Coco/perlite on timed fertigation. Fool proof.
Autos all day 💪
Photos.
Photos. I like deciding how full the tent is when flowering begins.
Photos hands down, autos are unstable finicky time bombs imo and imo a lot ends up not as good of weed as a photo . I’ll catch hell for saying that and I’ll agree I’ve seen fire autos but I’ve also seen a lot more mid autos if you wanna know the truth. if you can provide 12 hours of dark there’s no advantage in growing an auto . If you can’t then I could understand running autos but if you have control overnight and day there’s no point in running autos. I also prefer organic growing in living soil imo it’s the easiest most hands off approach and healthier(I know nobody cares)
Idk why autos are a thing tbh. I would grow them outdoors but never indoors.
If you get a chiller, you will want to plan for all the hot air it exhausts. Think of the back side of a window ac. They need to be in a separate space and the heat needs to be vented. A lot of them are also poorly constructed. Hydrofarm will not honor the warranty on theirs. They have one employee in charge of warranty claims, and her job is to ignore everyone.
If you are able to circulate the water, then definitely invest in a chiller. I was buying cases of water and freezing them that was how often I had to switch them out. That shit is for the birds. Also Fem photos for me all day
Autos, just make sure you choose a good breeder. Everyone who says they don’t like autos or are disappointed by them haven’t grown Night Owl or Mephisto more than likely. They have some that are bigger than photos, it’s insane. Just go check out the subreddit Nightowlseeds and Mephheads
