they're supposed to want 18-24" per plant. I crowd mine. I right now have 800 seedlings in a 3'x3' raised bed. I didng expect them all to survive transplant, breakage coming out of compacted soil. But they all lived. I also didn't anticipate this many from squirting 10 grape tomato's seeds straight out of supermarket produce w them on last legs. I'm going to build an earth floor bed and "trench-grow" all of them laying in their sides to see what they do. I'll keep 8 in the original 3×3 box, ti ensure 2 if each variety can mature n grow fruit w amole space. According to me, who shoves lots of plants into small spaces, your fine. But if they're crowding as the grow, transplant some elsewhere, or give a few away. Look into trench growing or vertical growing a few if space a concern. I'm the person that can't throw away a food plant … and plant really. save them all!

I always pack mine in tight and just prune out a little extra on the insides and I get tons of maters
