Stones are becoming even. Not sure what is between the stones, but i believe it is some kind of sand that has glued together over time – like a mossy hard surface now.

I'm lazy – so the least amount to fix it —

  1. dig around the stones and get the old stuf out as much as possible (I don't want to remove them all … too much work)

  2. get paver sand – put under any uneven stones, and fill in around the rest.

Let me know if my steps are correct for the least amount of work besided doing nothing!

#2. Digging out the cracks won’t stop the heaving. Good luck.

Walking away is the lazy way. I have nothing to say about doing this job “half-ass”. What you think is too much work in reality is probably the easiest way. Grab a friend to help. You’ll also be able to space out the pavers to make one long walkway.

Pull every single paver. Rake out the crud, crap and debris. Pour paver sand (or even play sand) and spread that out evenly, place a paver and tap with a rubber mallet. Keep a level with you (4’) to check that your low point is away from the house/structure. Once you’re done laying pavers, peastone gravel or river rock to fill all the space between paver stones.

Least amount of work. Dial phone — call concrete company — pave walkway.

(Most $$, too — my dad called me a smart ass a few times, too.)

You could embrace the muck and get moss spores
