Hi, i literally made an account on reddit just to get help cause at this point im desperate 😭. I have a houseplant which i believe is a pothos (im not 100% sure and if it is idk which kind), i got it like 6 years ago and it was very long and bushy, but 3 years ago my cat had accidentally throw it off killing many branches and destroying the pot, back then i didnt know these kind of plants needed a different soil so i just replanted it with normal soil i had for my terrace plants. and it was just two branches and i think like 3 leaves šŸ’”. i moved out after that for about a year and a half to a different country so it was my mother watering it for that time period. When i came back i felt horrible for it, so i decided to get a bigger pot, and soil for these kind of plants (it was called ā€œfor house plants with big green leavesā€) and replanted it because the last pot was way too tiny in my opinion, i also got a liquid fertiliser (written ā€œfor green plants and palms, google recommended it for pothos) which i have been using and its been going great i think. But i noticed my plant isnt growing longer at all, and only today i noticed it had its first new leaf growing, i was super excited but i had to leave to do some errands and when i came back my cat bit it off… (last pic) (he chewed on the leaves before but never ate them, just bite them off for some reason). So yeah, now its gonna have to stay on top of the fridge where my cat cant get on. So my question is, what will happen to the place where my cat bit off the new baby leaf? Will it become a branch/grow a new leaf or will it just die off?? i feel absolutely horrible this plant has only suffered so far i feel 😭 Also is there any way i can make it more bushy/longer (preferably both ngl) I really want the best for it but thats the only kind of plant like that i have and idk where to start… (also the wooden fork is for the branches to not sag down, if its bad ill remove it immediately)

You’ll be okay! It’s a hardy plant and can survive much worse.

Just don’t over water it. Wait until the soil is dry 80-90% of the way. You can use that fork to check. Stick it in all the way through the pot and if it comes out with wet dirt on it it’s still wet and you should wait. Yeah i’d keep it out of reach of your cat. The part that got bitten off will likely activate the next growth node below it.

Honestly though it’s an easy plant and very difficult to kill as long as you don’t overwater. Fertilize maybe once a month or once every other month.

Also need a picture of your cat, cat tax.

Yes, cat tax. Cost of doing business.
