Hi all, last year during summer and start off fall my grandad fell ill and passed away. I normally tend to my garden with love and care and try to combine letting nature be a bit and putting in the stuff i like. Last year i did not tidy up the sun flowers and pumkins as i just didnt feel up for anything anymore. I forgot about it and in honour of my grandad try to get up and continue the garden but now i have all these volunteers come up and i find it difficult to or:

Option 1 – Let it be and see how it goes, may end up with a sunflower 'field'

Option 2 – Pull them out, put in a pot and put online or something to give away, but dont wanna give my pots all away😅 and also efford for maybe nothing

Option 3- cut them off and leave a couple

Thanks upfront. Im probably overthinking it and ngl feel pretty shitty i neglected my garden in the first place when i know my grandad loved what i did with it over the last couple years.

I would thin them out so you have a couple pumpkins with a few sunflowers interspersed

Id go with option 3. Option 2 works if you can get yourself enough dirt, and I go with solo cups that either have a hole snipped off the bottom or drilled for drainage

Well, sorry about your grandad firstly.
But basically you have a choice- let ’em go and they won’t do much that crowded, thin them out and they could (albeit do you want sunflowers where they are), try and move some around, or pot some up to give away (possibly making you feel like you’re spreading your love for him around).

If you decide to pot some up, just grab some solo cups and you’re not only not worried about giving pots away, you’ll have solo cups to pot up some starts next spring.
