I'm currently in the middle of my paludarium build and am reaching a problem that I haven't fully figured out how to solve. I need to visually cover up the front (cliff) part of the filter foam while still allowing water to pass through. The obvious solution would be lots of small stones that leave gaps, maybe even lava rock, however the total height (30cm) makes me question how practical that option is… Any other suggestions?

Maybe loose rock, super glue it together with decent gaps, fill gaps with Java moss. Will anything live in it? With a low bioload that should be fine.

I used “ Dragon Wood” from my LFS as a background with a pump running water through. It has lots of of holes and nooks and crannies. Not sure if that’s the official name but it looks similar to Dragon Stone.

I would honestly buy cheap lava rock bags from homedepot. Clean them. Then I would cut the foam back even more (since your adding more material with the lava rock). Then just glue rock by rock with aquarium safe super glue. It will look good bro. Trust the process

It may console you to learn that you are, in fact, not future-you. This is the present.

How does water need to pass through it? Just vertically or through the sides as well?
