Would love to move it to a more visible position, wondering what it actually is? And if the growth at the base is life threatening?

Looks like an Angophora, not sure the species. The growth at the bottom is a lignotuber, normal part of some Eucs/Angoph/Corymbias that stores energy. You can try and move it but it might hate it. Water it well before and after moving, digging out as much of the rootball in tact as you can

Unlikely to survive. They rarely have a good rootball.

You could try creating a box with cardboard around and under it to stop the soul falling away, but I have my doubts. Don’t overwater it if its going in to heavy clay soil.

Buy another, they rarely survive moving. Root disturbance kills them
