My compost doesn’t get hot, but the food scraps and other components break down. There is a wood piece on the left not broken down, but I hand sift before I use it in the garden.
What does this mean when the components break down, but the pile doesn’t get hot? Could it be internally hot? Is this considered cold composting even if food scraps I dump and turn are gone a week later?
