Calathea. Beautiful leaves for sure. Good luck keeping that thing alive.
I had two a year back and they were fine for a few months and then suddenly both were like “Nope!” and died. 🤷♂️

Similar experience to the other two commenters. I think my rattlesnake calathea is actually still alive but my other ones have seemingly randomly keeled over. 🤷 Beautiful while they last! The leaves move a bit depending on the time of day I believe, like a prayer plant.
Peacock calathea. I’ve almost killed mine a few times. I give it tap water about every 7-10 days and I have it a pretty good distance from the window.

I had one that I thought I killed until I soaked it with water and she always revived. So mine just loved to be drowned.

Calatheas like HIGH humidity by the way. If you don’t have one (and don’t live in a tropical climate) I would suggest buying a humidifier and you might have more success caring for it

calathea, they’re not too bad don’t be scared! They don’t like super bright/direct light but still need a decent amount of light. I keep mine in a north facing window and they are happy enough – don’t keep it somewhere that gets strong afternoon light unless u have it a good 5-6 ft away from the window. water when dry, they don’t like to dry out for long. they prefer distilled water if u can get it, if not at least filtered water. they start getting brown tips if u give them tap water. don’t fertilize they are very sensitive to fertilizer, idk how to fertilize them lol so I don’t. they are definitely a little tough for a beginner plant but you can do this!

Prayer plant. I find them very easy. My big recommendation is to use distilled water if your local wa6has added florid, and let tap water gas out for 24 hours before watering.

My friend has a very happy one.
She lives in California and has it 5 feet from a East facing floor to ceiling window with a sheer curtain blocking the direct sun.
She bottom waters it only when it starts to droop. The room is usually around 45% humidity.

They love humidity but not to have their feet wet or too much sun or not enough sun
