On April 23rd, 2026, global pop music star Demi Lovato headlined New York City’s Madison Square Garden as part of her “It’s Not That Deep Tour,” where she played for a sold-out venue.

Act I

As soon as Lovato took the MSG stage, her presence was met with a raucous response. She began her set with the vivacious “Fast” and went on to greet her New York audience.

She immediately broke into the nonchalant “Kiss” and “Frequency,” where her choreography routine was reminiscent of Christina Aguilera’s “Dirrty” music video.

Act II

The second act kicked off with an outfit change and a rocking rendition of “Heart Attack,” where everybody was singing along and segued into “Tell Me You Love Me,” which featured digital pyrotechnics towards the end.

Following the laid-back and smooth “Confident,” Lovato went on to address her Big Apple crowd.

“Madison Square Garden,” she shouted. “Y’all sold this out! I am so blown away. Thank you so, so much from the bottom of my heart. Welcome to the ‘It’s Not That Deep’ Tour. I am excited to be back here with you all tonight,” she enthused.

“The deluxe version of my album came out ‘It’s Not That Deep (Unless You Want It To Be)’ and I have a new song from it that I want to play for you,” she said, and immediately broke into “Low Rise Jeans,” which was a sultry yet provocative performance.

“New York,” she exclaimed, and went on to sing the crisp Lorde-esque “Fantasy” and closed this portion of the show with a remix of “Solo,” sans Clean Bandit, where she was backed by two dancers.

“Give it up for my dancers,” she said, and she allowed each dancer to showcase their unique and individual talents.

Act III

Lovato commenced her third act with the powerhouse ballad of the night, her inspirational “Skyscraper,” where she nailed the high notes, and she was able to move her listeners on an emotional level with her breathy, crystalline vocals, which were controlled and pitch perfect.

“Thank you so much,” Lovato said, after the warm reception the song received. “It is so incredible to see so many of you who have been with me from day one. Thank you for sticking by me all this time. I love you!”

Lovato continued with her infectious radio single “Give Your Heart a Break” and equally impressive was the sassy “Say It.”

“What do you say we keep this party going?” she asked, and the answer from her NYC fans was a resounding “yes.” She segued into the upbeat “Little Bit,” which was a great deal of fun.

“I wrote this song about loving someone so much that you are terrified of losing them. I wrote it for my husband, who I love so much. He is here tonight… so baby, this is for you,” and dedicated the power-ballad “Ghost” in his honor.

Once again, she was able to drench her listeners into a wide spectrum of raw emotions thanks to her harking execution and delivery of “Ghost,” thus proving that she is a true song stylist.

The lyrics were pure poetry, and melodically, “Ghost” had a stirring vibe to it which was reminiscent of Kate Bush’s “This Woman’s Work.”

Act IV

After undergoing yet another outfit change (dressed in a red outfit), she started her fourth act with the enthralling “Here All Night” and immediately broke into “Joshua Tree,” which felt like a fever dream as she was backed by her female dancers.

“Let’s have some fun,” she said, prior to noting that she was going to get an audience member’s help to help her select which album she was going to throw it back to. “As you know, I’ve had many different eras,” she admitted.

Fortunately, Lovato’s surprise guest was JoJo, and they performed her smash hit “Too Little Too Late,” which was sheer bliss.

“Give it up for JoJo,” Lovato exclaimed, and continued with the liberating “Let You Go.”

She went on to deliver a soaring rendition of the ballad “Stone Cold,” which was quite expressive. Following the positive feedback, she noted that she was going to cry. “Thank you so much,” she expressed.

“I want you all to put the lights on your phones because I want to see your beautiful faces,” she said.

A highlight moment was when she invited her husband, Jordan “Jutes” Lutes, on stage and they performed a duet of the Goo Goo Dolls’ signature tune “Iris,” which ironically enough was their first dance song at their wedding. Their duet performance resonated well with all, and they shared a kiss at the end.

After a brief water break, she segued into “Sorry Not Sorry,” she closed on a fitting and unapologetic note with “Really Don’t Care.”

Encore

For her encore, Lovato returned to the hallowed Madison Square Garden stage, sporting her sunglasses on, and she serenaded her fans to “Sorry to Myself.”

She subsequently kicked off the spring and summer season with the catchy “Cool for the Summer,” where she left everyone wanting to hear more.

“MSG, thank you so much,” she said, effusively, and reiterated her love and gratitude to everyone who has supported her on her musical journey.

The Verdict

Overall, Demi Lovato was able to put on a captivating live show at the “World’s Most Famous Arena” Madison Square Garden, where she was able to take her fans on an emotional journey through her music.

Whoever has yet to see Lovato perform live is truly missing out… her vocals are angelic and heavenly backed by power and conviction. Most important, she appeared comfortable on stage and her passion for her craft was evident throughout the night.

She proved that she is still at the top of her game musically, and a force of nature in her own right. Vocally, Lovato is the Pat Benatar equivalent of our generation.
