A tiny bed because we rented the house, and I was not allowed to get anything bigger than that. Turned out to be the right size for this pest. 😻
Edit: we love this cat, he is a friend 🙂 Fun part was that we were absent for a couple of weeks and when I checked the bed on arrival, it looked like I never planted anything. Like the seedlings had just disappeared and left no trace. I thought I was going crazy and it remained a mystery until a fee days later I saw this fluffy pest resting there.

LOL, it’s almost like you made the bed the perfect size for the pest..
This is not ok. I’m sorry.
You made a box, kinda expect it to happen.
Oh kitties. Birds will also eat lettuce down to the ground, I usually cover my seedlings up with netting to keep them from being lunch. Anyway it’s easy to reseed lettuce and it grows pretty quickly, we sow it multiple times a season.
outdoor cats are pests, and so are their owners.
FWIW I love him too.
Add pine cones to the box. The cat won’t sit in it. That’s what I put in all of my garden beds and it fixed this issue for me as well.
My cats do this. If I start seeds in an open bed I have to jam a bunch of sticks into it all over so they can’t get into it and sleep lol
He fits he sits?
If not for cat, why cat-sized 🤔

My cat did this to an aloe plant! It’s a good thing she’s cute!
Lol if not the cat than another pest would do something. My mom has raised garden beds and still had to build a cage around her lettuce to prevent the ground hogs from getting in
My advice is to use chicken wire… or as I like to call it: kitten wire.
I wrap around containers and it keeps cats, skunks, etc out.
Just as likely could have been a wild rabbit. Next time, add a cover.
P.S.
Cats are assholes.
lol it’s your pest but the neighbors pet.
I’m sorry but I laughed aloud. Having the exact same issue with my onions, but 75% of the pest problem are my own household pests
Lmao!!! Omg thats too funny why is this planter perfect sized for a cat?
Everyone knows a cat can’t resist a box
Hate to be that guy but… that’s not lettuce in the first pic. Those are brassicas/kale mix.
You were allowed to plant the perfect cat trap.
These things happen. 🤷♀️
Put some netting over those boxes next time maybe?
That’s a very cute cat
Animals do stuff to gardens. I
Last summer, I decided to sow some cilantro seeds in a rectangular planter that I could fit on my deck’s ledge. It felt like the perfect spot to keep it in, where it gets the right amount of shade to not bolt so quickly.
Seeds sprouted, grew to like 2 inches, and then just stopped. Like they were stunted. Couldn’t figure out why. Got some cameras for another reason, and lo and behold! The neighborhood stray I feed was taking hour-long naps in my planter. Dude must’ve been laying in that for half the summer 🥲 lol
Make a decoy planter full of catnip.
lol the villain himself
