I found this white and chocolate colored substance this week, days after the recent rains.

It looks like thousands of very tiny (too tiny for my phone camera to capture well) short white hairs attached to plant matter with tiny brown seeds at the en of each white “hair”.

It’s on both living and dead plant matter all within a ~8ft area I recently mulched: salvia, dwarf palmetto, day flowers, zoysia grass, crepe myrtle bark, cedar post bed edging, and the bottom “bark” of a sago palm.

I suspect fungus. Yet it also resembles the eggs suspended on threads that lacewings lay. Seek (app) can’t ID it.
