Hi everyone!! First time poster here but I’m desperate for some advice on repotting this monster.

I got her four years ago (pictured when I first got her) and I’ve repotted and cut her back many times. I think she has 5 plants total in there. Last repot was almost two years ago and I trimmed the roots to keep her in her pot (16”) but she has grown HUGE since then.

The issue is the pot is plastic and I can’t remove her off of her stand or else the whole plant will topple over (shes leaning against the wall for support). So I’m now looking to get a terracotta pot that’ll hopefully prevent her from toppling over. I wasn’t planning on upsizing the pot size but I think I need to.

Any advice on better supports or cutting back would be super helpful! I’m currently using plastic supports (pictured) for each vine that I got at my local nursery but she is quickly growing past those. I’ve been considering separating her but I’m scared lol and I also don’t have a hose I can use (I live in an apartment building) that would make separating easier.

I guess a heavy pot would work or a way to make your current one heavier, ie a weight in the bottom.

Besides that maybe a string that connects to the wall like a dresser has lol.

When my giant monstera got too big I cut her all the way back to nodes and started over.
That plant is stunning, but they are a pain to work with. Do you have a spray nozzle on your shower?
I had a similar issue and had to rinse my roots off into totes in the tub in effort to do any sort of transplanting at all.
Good news is that monstera are practically bulletproof, so you can do what you want without too much worry.
Perhaps you can get a cedar plank from the hardware store to tie your plant to once you get it situated in its new home.

Idk about a pot, but I’ve seen some lattice work planks leaning against the wall which might help stabilize her?

When I repot my big monsteras I lay down a painters tarp and bring all the supplies over to the plants location. Then I lay the plant down on the tarp and get it unpotted. Ready the new pot with a sturdier support and slide the roots into it while laying down. Secure it to the support a bit, stand it up, and then fill the pot with substrate. Roll up the painters tarp and dispose of the old substrate or add it back into your container if you want to reuse and done. I also have the wheeled bases under my big monsteras so I can move them when needed.
