I bought this cutting on ebay and have read quite a bit about spent nodes – now I want your opinions – will this plant survive and grow a leaf or should I stop trying? 🙁
The plant is facing a south window and has been with me for almost two months.
Note: I put in the rocks because my cat loves to pick out the soil and spread it in the apartment.

Unfortunately, it looks like the growth point is damaged or unhealthy, so it might not be able to push new growth.
What were the roots like when you received it and did you pot it up straight away? The soil does not look ideal either… Waiting two months and more for new growth is not unusual. The cutting will focus on roots first and once they will suffice to support a whole new plant it will eventually grow a new leaf.

That looks like a spent node indeed. Looks like you got scammed.
