Do you re use jiffy starter mix? I normally just toss the spent starter mix in my garden soil.
Last year my container mix was a 3/2/1. Peat, compost, perlite.
This year I added about 2 part compost, 2 part peat, 1 part rice hulls to 5 part last years mix. I doubled the amount of containers. Worked well for me. Great info.
I like using rice hulls / I sterilized before use to avoid unwanted sprouts.
