The best medium in my opinion is nothing but a netpot, a neoprene collar and air.

It’s still water culture. The medium is there to support the plant in an upright position

So a greenhouse with 30 acres of bedding plants with boom watering is hydroponics?

Hydro can also be peat/perlite and nutrient solution. If you are adding nutrients to the water and applying this to your plants with each “fertigation”, then it can also be considered hydroponic in a soiless medium.

All of my outdoor gardens in the ground are on drip irrigation with a fertilizer injector. I think of it as run-to-waste hydro.
