I put them both in water the same day. The second one seems to be growing roots a lot faster. I know these don’t get very long, so I’m not sure if they’re ready to plant yet

    I’d wait until the roots are several cms or two inches long to be on the safe side

    These are one of the few plants that you can put right in soil without any roots present. Just make sure the soil is wet but not soggy

    Yep! I’ve literally propped hundreds of these. They have tiny root systems, so they do not grow long in water in reasonable time. Just keep the water ever so slightly moist, not soggy, for the next week or two.
