Hey guys! This is my first attempt at a paludarium or anything like it tbf.

The closest Iโ€™ve ever gotten to anything similar was growing a chili plant ๐Ÿ’€

Itโ€™a 60cm * 30cm * 35cm, please ignore my diy lid – Iโ€™m waiting for mine to come in ๐Ÿ˜‚ Itโ€™s just an acrylic lid with 36 2mm holes.

I literally know nothing about paludariums, saw them last week any hyper focused on it but the goal is to house 3 vampire crabs (1 male 2 female) in about 6 weeks (heard I should wait for plants to cycle)

That said – these were all the plants I could find that I saw were good for the tank, what else can I add to make it more homey for he crabs?

Isopods (20) and springtails (75-100) will arrive in a week

Hydrocotyle will arrive, but the water looks bare and tbf, the land does too? The ferns donโ€™t match whatsoever but I think itโ€™s cause they were shipped and got a little sad looking.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated :3

First, this looks so amazing! very well done. I really like this aesthetic. You can add a few leaves and botanicals to the water to give it more character. aquatic plants like anubias nana petite or bucephalandra would be nice additions. I’m also a fan of using java moss along the waters edge and on driftwood. i add more driftwood coming out the water towards the top of the tank so that crabs could utilize the big open space in the air column. Again, I really like this setup. cheers
