The warmer weather is reminding everyone that spring is here. Make plans to attend the annual University of Illinois Extension community event at the Macon County Fairgrounds to find the perfect vegetable and flower plants for this growing season.
The Macon County Master Gardener and Master Naturalist Plant Sale will be from 9 a.m. to noon on May 2 at the Macon County Fairgrounds, 3700 N. Westlawn Ave., in Decatur. Shoppers will find annuals, perennials, vegetable plants, and hanging baskets, along with a variety of native plants offered by Master Naturalists. Volunteers will be available to answer questions and help visitors choose plants suited to their gardens.
The sale also features a bargain shed section stocked with gently used gardening tools, pots, and supplies. These items are perfect for the new gardener or anyone looking to expand their collection without breaking the budget.
Attendees are encouraged to shop early for the best selection. Cash, check, and credit card donations will be accepted for plants. Advance registration is requested at go.illinois.edu/PlantSale, but walk-ins will also be welcome.
