Gardeners of all abilities can get creative while supporting dementia research at a hands-on planting event.

Dobbies Garden Centre in Cadnam will host a hanging basket workshop on Saturday, May 9 and Saturday, May 16, with 10 per cent of ticket sales donated to Alzheimer’s Research UK through the garden centre’s charity partnership.

Nigel Lawton, plant buyer at Dobbies, said: “Gardening is a great way to look after our brains and stay active.

“Our hanging basket workshop at the Cadnam store will be a great opportunity to relax and learn while enjoying a beginner-friendly guided planting experience.”

Each session begins at 2pm and costs £30 per person.

Participants will learn to create a cottage garden-style rattan basket using seasonal blooms, with guidance on arrangement and care to help their baskets thrive.

Workshops are timed ahead of Dementia Action Week, which runs from May 18 to 24.

Tickets can be booked at the Dobbies website.
