We've been slowly turning our backyard into a native oasis. For a while I wanted a vine that was native that we could enjoy and so we bought American wisteria. She hadn't flowered when we bought her but when she did, man was that a surprise.
I had seen two posts before about the cat pee smell and thought those were outliers. If it is an outlier, ours is now another stray dot on the data chart.
I don't know what to do with her because I don't want to discard her but I also can't fathom having her close to the house. It's a damn shame because she's gorgeous.
What's worse is that we have a lot of carpenter bees and bumbble bees but they fly by without even contemplating landing on her blooms.
Is it maybe soil conditions that is causing her smell (I haven't take her out of the pot)? Does anyone have any thoughts?

Do you have a neighbor you don’t like? Plant it close to that fence.
I just bought an amethyst falls american wisteria and it has a very nice flower smell on one cluster and cat pee on the other. Thought i was going crazy when i smelled it at the store and then again at home.
