   Wait about 3 weeks when the roots get bigger

   It doesn’t go in the soil.

   These shoots will sprout from it; let them grow for a bit, then break them off and put them in water.

   Those will then root and you plant those.

   Planting the whole thing will more likely just lead to rot in your roots.
