You might know Richmond Park for its grassy expanses, woodland bits and wild deer. It’s one of London’s biggest and wildest parks and makes for a smashing spot for a sunny day out. But what you may not have noticed on previous visits is a secret garden in the heart of the park: the Isabella Plantation.
You’ll want to make a beeline for the gorgeous garden as soon as you can. That’s because it’s home to one of London’s most stunning floral displays, which has reached full bloom unseasonably early this year. Hurry on down – the flowers won’t be around for long!
Isabella Plantation in Richmond Park
Journey through the fields of Richmond Park and you’ll discover a magical park-within-a-park. Every year, the Isabella Plantation becomes a hotspot for flower-spotters and azalea-lovers as the flowers bloom and it reaches peak seasonal pinkness.

In late April and early May, the park’s stunning azaleas are in full bloom, and the whole place is pinker than the Plastics on a Wednesday or the Barbie movie!
The azaleas only flower for a brief time each year, so be sure to visit soon. Otherwise, you’ll blink and miss them – because these blooms are sometimes gone in a matter of weeks, or even days.
If you can’t make it down to see them this year, be sure to keep dates in late April and early May of 2027 free. These are the ideal times to view the flowers, and you won’t want to miss out twice!
Honestly, is there a better way to welcome the arrival of spring than with a wander around a stunning London park?
Wander around for long enough, and you’re sure to find your fair share of hidden secrets and forgotten burblers within the park. You’re also sure to come across some gorgeous mirror-ed vistas…

More than just azaleas
It’s not just about the pink-petaled delights at the Isabella Plantation. Indeed, even when it isn’t shining pink, it’s a gorgeous spot for a wander. The Royal Parks recommends visiting all year round to see how the blooms and colours change.
There are tons of gorgeous floral sights to take in. There are, for example, many gorgeous fields of bluebells.
So we reckon it’s about time to let you pink-lovin’ pals know about the the Isabella Plantation and make plans to head on over and get lost amongst the verdant display.
(And with 40 acres to explore, you very well might get lost!)

Worried about the walk? Richmond Park operates a free minibus service that runs on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, between March and November. The minibus has disabled access and can ferry visitors to and from all Richmond Park car parks, as well as the Ladderstile Gate, Richmond Gate, Pembroke Lodge, and Isabella Plantation. So there’s virtually no excuse not to get thee among the blooms!
📍 Richmond Park, Kingston-upon-Thames. It’s a 35-minute walk (mostly through the park) from Norbiton station.
