Autumn is perfect for planting bare root roses. And I love them because they are an affordable and sustainable way for adding such a beautiful plant to your garden.

And it was so simple:

💧 Soak for 2-4 hours
🪏 Dig a deep, wide hole
🕳️ Add some well rotted manure to the planting hole
🥄 Sprinkle the roots with mycorrhizal fungi
🌹 Position the rose
🧤 Backfill
🥾 Firm in
💦 Water

And come spring and summer you will have beautiful blooms!

I planted ‘Tottering-by-Gently’ by @david_austin_roses which is a beautiful, open centred rose making it perfect for pollinators. I have planted it next to my raised beds to attract lots of pollinators to my grow your own food space to improve my harvests. So it will be both pretty and help make my garden more productive ☺️

Roses are my all time favourite plant and I am taking advantage of the bare root season to plant lots more over the next few months. So stay tuned for the varieties I have picked!
