Geauga Park District is inviting plant enthusiasts, gardeners and curious beginners to attend Native Wildflower Gardening on May 9.

Led by Naturalist Karie Wheaton from 1 to 2 p.m. at Big Creek Park’s Meyer Center, 9160 Robinson Road in Chardon, this informative program will explore the many benefits of planting native wildflowers, from supporting pollinators like bees and butterflies to creating more resilient, low-maintenance landscapes, according to a news release.

Participants will also learn about some favorite native species well-suited to Northeast Ohio and where to find them locally for purchase.

This program is seeking to provide practical tips and inspiration to help people grow with purpose, whether they’re starting a garden from scratch or simply looking to enhance their existing landscape, the release stated.

Questions may be asked at the program or sent in advance to kwheaton@geaugaparkdistrict.org.

No registration is required. For more information, visit www.geaugaparkdistrict.org or call 440-286-9516.
