April Fool’s Day 2026 has come and gone. We may observe All Fool’s Day, but that doesn’t mean you are a fool.
There is a much more important April day in Firestone, not to be ignored. Election Day for Firestone is April 21. Mark your calendars and vote. If you haven’t made the effort to vote, then you certainly will be known as a fool because your voice won’t be heard. This year’s election day is perhaps one of the most important ones we will have in a very long time. Be sure you go by Firestone Town Hall and vote. Be smart, go vote.

Today is also a good day to sit back and browse through the seed catalogs and dream of having a yard in full bloom. Spring came early in the Rockies this year. Believe me, it couldn’t come any too soon for me. Seeing the spring flowers in full bloom in the month of March makes me think I have found hidden treasures right in my own yard. And it’s never boring to watch the birds as they are busy with their annual spring rituals of nesting. It’s amazing to see the stuff they salvage and drag into the birdhouses for their nests. I think they must be the originators of recycling and building green.
With all the beauty of early spring, I am constantly reminded not to be fooled by Mother Nature. Try as she may to bring more warm weather and beautiful spring flowers, Old Man Winter will likely have one more cold day ahead to remind us he’s still hanging around.
I’ve been fooled once too many times into believing it’s time to plow the garden. I’m reminded again that the weather in the Rockies holds the distinct honor of being unpredictable and anything but constant. The blizzards of late April are enough to remind me to keep dreaming of planting but not actually doing any until after Mother’s Day. That’s tradition.
I’ve discovered if I want a garden, I need to invest in a few weed-pulling sessions. This is true if the voters of Firestone want real, honest people representing them and the needs of the town. It takes some investing in choosing the right ones to get in there and pull the weeds and tend to the needs of the town and not let past mistakes grow and take root. This recall should have never happened. It’s time for Firestone citizens to take a stand and not allow “he said, she said” mislead us. We are a better community than that.
There is still time, and with a little effort, you can go to the website firestoneforward.org and find truth and justice instead of “hearsay.” And, remember, don’t be fooled. Cast your vote on April 21 in this most important election. Let your voice be heard while you pull those weeds and plow your garden.
