I got this from a plant swap. The new growth was SOOOO pretty 🤩 it sucked me in against my better judgement. I have scoured it for pests with a magnifier & a flash light. Seems clean but I still have it quarantined.

The person that brought it said she couldn’t give it the humidity it needed. 🤔 is that all you think is going on here???

I’ve learned a lot from this sub.

    Distilled water is your friend.

If you have a clear plastic bag or storage box, place the plant in that to increase humidity.

    This helps with acclimation.

That’s a Xanthosoma. Looks to be overwatered and judging by the etiolated petioles, it wants more light. I wouldn’t worry about the humidity unless you live in a desert.

Im pretty sure that this is a Phyllotaenium lindenii and not an Alocasia.

Caladium??? Does that mean it goes dormant in the winter? 🥴

  5. I’ve had really good success with my xanthosoma lindenii in a self watering pot with aroid mix.

Like others said its a Xanthosoma. I fertilize mine with growth technology foliage focus (along with alll of my other plants) and it loves it. Mine is also in a chunky mix that may help!
