Does anyone know what could be doing this to our eggplant? My gf thinks it is from snails but I don’t see any snails. I only see little ants periodically and she has spread cinnamon on the soil to deter the ants.
Why not plant in the ground? Will be more successful

I feel like the shape of the bites is a caterpillar. I’ve had some who hide under the soil in the day, move the top layer of little wood chips around and see if the culprit is playing hide and seek.

I would get some fine mesh netting and a couple of long poles and clips to keep the bugs off. I had to do this to my kale when I was getting swarmed with cabbage worms.

Check under the leaves. The same thing happened to my plant, and the culprit was a small bug hiding there
