Castlegar Communities in Bloom is hosting a xeriscape workshop to help people learn how to save water and grow a stunning drought-proof garden that thrives even in the driest times.
This in-person event will feature master gardener Sig Kendrick, the executive director of the Okanagan Xeriscape Association, and Paula Gosse, the head gardener for the City of Kelowna. Gosse is also a master gardener, landscape consultant, entrepreneur and floral designer.
Kendrick will present the seven principles of xeriscaping with photos, open discussions, and a Q&A time.
Gosse will speak on the use of drought tolerant plants in containers, soil structure amendments, fertilizers and watering practices.
CIB says participants will learn tips and tricks to keep plants happy even when it’s dry out. The event is perfect for anyone who wants a beautiful, sustainable garden without wasting a drop of water.
The event will be held on April 25 at The Confluence (1995 6th Ave.) from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tickets are $40 and can be purchased through eventbrite.com. Participation is limited to 50 people. Call 250-365-1653 for more information.
