Hi air plant people (especially u/MoonPresenceFlora – thank you for inspiring and encouraging me 😊)! It has been one month since I started attempting to grow air plants from seeds for the first time and I wanted to share my progress. The seeds are from my T. caput-medusae and I started the process by soaking the seeds in water for about two weeks. Then I placed them on a few growing mediums to see what would work best. Out of the 6 I tried, sphagnum moss, coco coir, and fluffy cotton (cotton balls that I unrolled) worked the best. I’ve been keeping them in a humid box under low intensity grow lights and watering about once a week by spraying with rain water. Once they get a little bit bigger, I plan to untangle them from the stringy seed fluff and get a better look at them. I’m hoping I can get at least a handful to grow and thrive and eventually live with my other air plants outside of the humid box!
