This is probably a silly question but if grass has seed "visible" does that mean the seeds could be hand picked and spread? Or does the grass still have to continue it's lifecycle and brown/yellow before these are ready to spread?

I can't find an answer via Google on when grass seed from wild grass actually "viable". As far as I can tell, it's amidst it's reproduction cycle if it's visible but does it still need time to age and get that tan/brown in order to spread at all or is that just so that it is capable of spreading itself easily?

This isn't really about "lawn care" persay Im just sitting on my patio and realized I have no idea how grass really actually…does it's thing and if it can be manually done for the sake of it. Like can I take some of the visible(photo) seeds and plant them elsewhere? Or are they not far enough in their life to spread.

I don’t know about lawn grass but I used to work with wheat (a grass) and the seed for that won’t germinate until the plant is done growing it, which is when it starts turning yellow and dying back.

  2. No not yet it’ll have to dry down a bit first
