Civic Garden Club features feathered friends

The April meeting of the Civic Garden Club was called to order at 9:30 AM by Rita Thompson, President.
Robin Huskey, Kim Gore, Erin Gore, and Deborah Tanner served as this month’s hostesses and provided delicious refreshments on a beautiful spring-themed table setting.
The program for this month entitled, “Backyard Birds”, was presented by Gwen Winters. Mrs. Winters spoke about the many habits, food choices, and homes built by various birds. She also provided a spectacular slide show highlighting some of the beautiful birds that she has sighted here in Kilgore including painted buntings, cardinals, orioles, tanagers, doves, robins, mockingbirds, hummingbirds, and many more.
The membership roll was taken by Beth Root, Secretary. There were 27 members present. Attendees included Pat Adams, Debbie Akins, Kelly Alston, Wanda Bittick, Kathie Brown, Martha Clark, Gail Davidson, Pam DeCeault, Janel Garnett, Erin Gore, Kim Gore, Leisa Graefe, Vicki Hodges, Robin Huskey, Joy Jordan, Faye King, Pat Moschetti, Patti Meyer, Diana Ponder, Beth Root, Mary Russo, Darlene Sanders, Patty Sanders, Cynthia Siebert, Deborah Tanner, Rita Thompson, and Janis Underwood. We also had one visitor, Gwen Winters.
Reports/Announcements:
1) Pam DeCeault, Treasurer, gave the monthly financial report.

2) President Thompson presented information pertaining to the District III Workshop to be held in Lufkin on June 9, 2026, beginning at 9:30.
3) President Thompson reminded members that the next garden club meeting will be held at 9:30 AM on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at Diana Ponder’s.
The tip of the month was presented by Patti Meyer. Mrs. Meyer shared ideas for dried floral arrangements. She presented information on an artichoke that she had dried and painted as an option for an arrangement.
Patti Meyer, Vice President, awarded both Judy Wilkins and Kathie Brown with 5 specimen firsts. The meeting was adjourned at 11:06 AM by President Thompson.
