(April 18, 2026) — Every Spring, as plants begin to show themselves, Haddam Garden Club members start thinking about their annual plant sale.  Gardens are scoured for plants to be divided and shared, seeds are planted, and pots are prepared.

For the past several years HGC has held its annual plant sale in the parking lot in front of the old Haddam Elementary School on the Saturday before Mother’s Day.  Many come to find the perfect plant or gift for mom while others are looking to start, fill in or expand their gardens.

Plants are culled from local gardens and are known to thrive in our area.  HGC members are available to answer questions and guide customers.  This year’s featured plant will be the Yellow Siberian Iris, a spectacular, hardy cultivar that you will love (photo above).

This year we will have a booth offering fashion accessories, such as gently used and new jewelry, scarves, purses and dog bandanas for your shopping pleasure. This will be a fun place to add to your plant purchases and find something special for Mom or yourself!

Dan Natusch will join us once again to answer questions about tree care and will give away free seedlings. This year they will be Witch Hazel.

Profits from the sale will be put back into the community in our civic gardens, maintaining the Welcome to Haddam signs, scholarships, civic contributions and informational presentations.  Many community members have attended and enjoyed our programs about Crop Circles, hummingbirds, and the dangers that bait boxes pose to raptors in our presentation from A Place Called Hope, and much more.

Please stop by on Saturday, May 9, 2026 between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 Noon and shop with us; for Mom, for yourself, for your garden. We look forward to meeting and talking to you!

More information about the sale is on our website under Events, as well as information about our club and what we do. Visit www.HaddamGardenClub.org, and check our Facebook page after May 1, 2026 for updates on what other plants will be available at the Sale.
