Don’t throw away those big plastic water jugs β€” turn them into a 4-tier flower tower 🌿🌸

4 jugs. 1 PVC pipe. 2 pencils. Some spray paint. And your backyard gets a 5-foot vertical garden for under $20.

πŸ› οΈ WHAT YOU NEED
β€’ 4 plastic water cooler jugs in decreasing sizes (5-gal, 3-gal, 2-gal, 1-gal)
β€’ 1 white PVC pipe (Schedule 40, pre-drilled with holes along the length)
β€’ 2 short pencil stubs (cut from a standard #2 yellow pencil β€” just longer than the PVC diameter)
β€’ 1 cordless drill + utility knife (for the initial PVC holes and cutting the base jug)
β€’ 1 big bag potting mix (2 cubic foot β€” the big bag from the garden center)
β€’ 1 can white outdoor spray paint (matte)
β€’ 4–8 cascading nasturtium seedlings (Tropaeolum majus β€” edible leaves + edible flowers 🌼)

πŸͺ£ THE BUILD (7 steps)
1. Cut the 5-gallon base jug in half β€” keep the bottom piece as the base
2. Drill holes through the white PVC pipe at each tier height
3. Stand the PVC pipe in the center of the base jug
4. Flip the 3-gal, 2-gal, and 1-gal top-pieces upside-down (spout pointing into the jug below) and stack them on the PVC pipe
5. Lock each tier with a short pencil stub through the drilled PVC hole
6. Spray-paint the whole stack matte chalk-white in one sweep
7. Fill with potting mix, plant nasturtium in every pre-cut side window, done

πŸ’‘ WHY IT WORKS
The flipped top-pieces stack naturally on the wider tier below β€” each one tapers the silhouette. The spray paint unifies all 4 mismatched jugs into one sculptural white tower. And nasturtium is the sleeper MVP: it cascades like petunias but every leaf and flower is edible, peppery, and perfect for salads.

🌼 EDIBLE FLOWER BONUS
Every nasturtium flower you see on the tower is salad-ready. Pick them fresh, toss them with greens, eat the leaves too.
