Das too much sauce, looks like it was buried so long some of the support roots started girdling. I’d keep those ones uncovered and try to recover some of the finer root hairs

Some of those roots may be from the original root flare (buttress roots), but many of those appear to be adventitious roots that sprouted because of either deep planting or mulch volcano. That root in pictures 2 and 3 may be actually girdling the tree.
