Hey y’all, I just noticed this black stuff on some parts of my backyard that’s really strange. Whenever you swipe it away or shoot it with water, it comes off like dust in the wind – reminds me of breaking spores in The Last of Us lol And for all I know it could just be some type of mold/fungus.
But I would appreciate any help ID’ing this stuff and whether I should be concerned for my dogs or lawn too.

Seen this on a neighbor’s yard too, curious what it ends up being!
saw other posts about it being slime mold, due to our current wetness. if you brush across it, you can see all the spores releasing, like smoke.

Old slime mold probably. When the bright yellow stuff dries up in my yard it looks like this.
Definitely slime mold.
