Help! Today I found a mealy on my orchid in my dinning room. I decided to throw it out even though I love it because I am afraid of the mealys spreading. I bought this orchid about 3-4 weeks ago. I also see white spots on a floral arrangement my husband bought me last week. My husband also bought my basil and thyme yesterday but I do not see any white on those. So I am not sure where the mealys came from. My question is, I also have a banana leaf plant in my dinning room. I see this yellowish discoloration on one of the leaves now, is it from mealys? Is it another bug, fungus, or normal? I searched through this sub looking for another banana leaf that looks like this and I do not see one. I really want to save this plant as I’ve had it for years. Also, do I just toss the basil and thyme we just got? I am not sure where the mealys came from.
Additional info, my banana leaf sits on the floor in the corner of my dinning room next to a big window. And I water her once a week. I’ve never had a problem before and I’ve had her for almost 3 years. She is still in her original pot and has grown quite a bit. But this is the only leaf that looks like that.
