Tree owner says tree is at least 120 years old. This used to be all farmland and the family who planted it still has a relative who lives on the street.

I love stuff like that. There’s an old neighborhood near me developed in the early 1900s that still has several people living there with the last name of the main street. I go there a lot for digging up bottles in the old neighborhood dump. There’s a pecan on the property that’s about this size

If trees were a commodity and moveable, I’d pay a good chuck of change for a tree like that. But they are however priceless. Oaks never cease to grab my attention.

Sexiest pin oak I’ve ever seen

Edit: most pin oaks I climb have a more conifer-like structure. This one is embracing it’s red oak nature

I’ve been wanting to plant an oak in my yard for a while and I’m taking this as my sign to go ahead and do it. What a gorgeous tree

When I was a child my grandfather had a little tykes rope swing with extra rope swung over a pin oak’s tallest and strongest branches.  The tree was on a hill and he had a concrete bench next to the tree.  I could launch myself way over the hill.  Best memories and why pin oak is one of my favorite trees.
