Should I try and thin these out a little or just let them go crazy? These are all volunteers, I didn't plant any of them. I'm honestly excited about the idea of a sunflower forest! I'm not looking to collect seeds or use them in bouquets. They are for the pollinators and birds. So should I just let them fight it out for sunlight or should I pull some to let the big healthy ones grow better?

My back yard looks similar to this. I don’t thin them, I let them figure it out. I only thin in places where other things are growing and are getting their sun blocked.

I thin mine and mow paths through them as needed.

I kinda wonder if thinning them would encourage them to be larger on average due to having more space to gather resources, but I wouldn’t thin them were they mine so it’s totally one of those situations where I’m not following my own advice

Do they need full, hot, Texas sun? I have a patch along the wall that gets morning sun but only like 4-5 hours. (The zinnias “leaned” for more sun at that spot.)

This is going to be so pretty!
