I was wondering if I could please get some help/advice. I stepped outside and I could hear so many flies. I looked up and saw them all over my tree. It seems there is a huge crack/line down my tree, and I am assuming its sap or something that is attracting all these flies. Im worried if this tree is going to die, or if I need to chop it down as it is so close to my house. Hopefully the crack will "heal", I'm not sure if thats a thing. We do get a lot of high winds.

It’s leaking sap, flies like that. Birches have pretty good tasting sap, not as famous as maple but you can make syrup from them, just tastes completely different. Keep a loose eye on the crack, should just be in the bark and easily healed but on rare occasion it’ll be something deeper that could pose an issue
Long, vertical cracks like that on the main trunk are never good. You will have to have an arborist come out and do an assessment to determine the extent of the damage to the trunk. The oozing of the sap doesn’t bode well either, could be some internal decay causing the issues.
