Hi, we recently bought a house and the tree out front is risen out of the ground a couple of inches. It looks like they had landscaping fabric around it. The roots are visible throughout the yard and are causing the walkway to be uneven. I wasn’t sure if I should remove the walkway and trim back the roots under the walkway, but I am afraid of hurting the tree. Also, should I try and remove the landscaping fabric? Any and all feedback would be helpful, I like the tree a lot and want to keep it healthy while making sure that it doesn’t continue to elevate. Thanks!

How full is the crown? Are there a lot of leaves on all the branches?

Would not hurt to get an estimate on it. Tree looks healthy but the roots like that would worry me that a good storm would take it down, call around and get a couple estimates from arborist it doesn’t hurt for an estimate

Our trees became visibly happier after I removed the landscape fabric around them. I would have sold pieces of my soul in exchange for that moss though. That’s some gorgeous mosss
