I'm new to this and just planted some stuff a month or so ago and they're sprouting up. I saw ants a few days in but didn't think they'd be a problem but ever since things have started to sprout, there are bits and pieces missing from the growth that is happening. Are the ants causing this, if so is there anything I can do about them?

TLDR; Ants might be eating the leaves of the growing vegetable. Is this a problem or not?

If not ants, what could it bem

Ants typically dont eat leaves, though there are a couple types that do I dont think thats whats going on here. Ants are around because of the water or if you have aphids they will farm those for the honeydew.

it’s most likely caterpillars, cutworms, grasshoppers, etc.

Get some food grade diatomaceous earth, sprinkle it on your plants and at the base of the plants. It will only work when dry so reapply after watering (after it dries a bit) but it is very effective against all insect pests and 100% safe.
