There are so many times when I will plant only a small portion of seeds from a pack, I forget how much food can be grown from just a single pack!

  1. I'm so glad you're doing this challenge Luke. I made up my mind this winter that I was going to grow food for my local food pantry this year too. I needed their help last year because of a cancer diagnosis. Thankfully I also had a well stocked pantry myself with things like flour, sugar and my home canned goods. I don't know how I would have made it without the pantry as I couldn't work for over 6 months.
I'm going to give back this year. Like you, I need a bigger garden 😄. I'll see what I can grow in my front flower bed 🤣. I hope you inspired others take up your challenge, and decide to donate some to a local pantry too. This is going to be a tough year for everyone. I was already seeing more and more people in the 7 months I had to utilize the pantry. People are hurting right now, and it's getting worse.

  2. Well, I have already planted a pack of MIGARDENER seeds (Detroit golden beets), last weekend so, once they germinate, I'll start posting on FB. This sounds like fun!!

  3. do it have to be migardener seeds to join i wanna do peppers nevermind i see some peppers i can order that big order of pepper seeds is me. one more question can it be different peppers that equal the amount of a pack?

  4. This is so sweet!! I'm actually already doing this with the Roselle Hibiscus from MIgardener – I planted a couple last year and this year I'm raising the whole packet (there's only 10 seeds, but the Roselle plants are HUGE)

  5. Oh I love the idea of overgrowing for charity ! I’m definitely planning on being a part of this challenge!

  6. This is such a cool idea!!!! I love it. I think I’ll do this with my extra peppers. Cause let me tell you my white pepper from you guys…..100% germination! Which is fantastic. I’m excited to join this!

  7. This is a wonderful idea, but I don't have the room or energy to plant out that many seeds. This is how I try to help my community. I start many seeds every year and after they're potted up I donate everything that's not going into my garden to nearby nursing homes and churches with food pantry gardens. If anything is left, I put it out by the street with a free sign.

  8. I already did this with lemon cucumbers. I think I planted 2-3 packs of lemon cucumbers this year, which will be for my own backyard garden, my parents’, and my in laws. My grow tent is so full of seedlings right now.

  9. The only thing I think I'm going to plant out whole packs of are pole beans because I love watching them fill up my trellises! I might participate!

  10. I hope you do this challenge every year! I cannot participate this year as we will be listing our house to sell in a couple of months and our new property in the country does not have a fence or water on it yet. We hope to have our house built before next spring!

  11. I always take my "over flow" garden produce to our local food pantry. They are happy to get nearly anything fresh, although last year's poblano pepper harvest was more than they managed to give away, people are afraid of "hot" peppers. I don't do Facebook and # just means a pound to me, LOL, but I'll be following along. I do have several packages of MIgardener seeds, including some Tendersweet carrots and Maxibel Haricot beans that I ordered at your end of the year sale last August, so I'll go ahead and plant those. This is a great idea, get more people involved and more people get fed!

  12. What a great idea. I'm going to have to see if I have any seed packets I haven't opened yet, or that I don't plan to sell seedlings of… and that I'd have room to plant an entire pack of

  13. This is a great trend to start. You’ll motivate others to want to grow for their communities, and during these times it’s very needed. God bless you and your family! 🙏🏼✝️

  14. Beautiful idea/challenge. For the last 3-4 years, I've donated 50-75 tomato plants/starts to the local pantry. Every year, the plants are quickly gone the first day. My hope is that the plants get planted, providing a little extra food during the season. I love the idea of growing a lot of extra food, too, to donate. Someday when I have more garden space.
