Directions unclear. Ate a fake strawberry.

My nieces and nephews just painted a bunch of rocks red for me and I threw them in my patch. That seemed to actually work.

Those look much more realistic than mine!

I don’t think mine fooled the birds last year, but my stupid dog was obsessed with them 😂

This is so cute but unfortunately the birds and animals can smell the difference lol

As a human I would definitely eat them

  6. LOL. Idk if they’ll give up that easily, but good luck!

Bird baths also help. They really just want the water.

Birds can see ultraviolet light, which we can’t, and strawberries may look very different to a bird than to you and I. You painted strawberries to look like you see them, but not the birds.

Same idea for chickens who eat eggs. A ceramic egg in the coop stops that almost immediately.

Mine worked and were nowhere near as realistic as yours…

Too bad they don’t work on slugs!

Just buy real ones at the store and dump them around your plants. The birds will eat them instead of the ones you are growing.

Ditto what someone else said re: water; allegedly, that’s what they’re after. A bird bath might be a good preventative measure. Your strawberries are gorgeous, though. If you haven’t tried your hand at making fake food for decor/jewelry, you might give it a go! I think a few of these would make a lovely garland. Are they polymer clay, or something else?

In my experience these work great! Like others said you need to put them out before the real berries start ripening. I also ran into the problem of squirrels stealing the fake strawberries and burying them throughout the yard.

A fake snake will also work! My dad used to make garden snakes and we never had issues with birds. His were black smithed from old horseshoe files tho lol
