I recently bought a house. The back yard had an old water feature the no longer works. I removed all the rock and put it in my side yard. Some people say it’s worth good money. Others say put them up for free as long as they pick them up. What is the truth?

The real answer is: It depends how much you want to deal with people. They are certainly worth something, IDK if they are worth your time though.
put them up for free as long as they pick them up.
Being realistic, to someone they are worth money. The issue is how hard is it going to be to find that person and how much are you willing to try and haggle with them to get what you consider enough to make it worth your time. Offer them for free and someone will probably be by to get them fairly quickly. If you expect to sell them for a quick easy buck I doubt that will be the case. You can maybe get lucky and someone will give you money and be willing to come and gather/haul them. For me I’d only pay if they were gathered up and easy to move.
I got rid a bunch of patio flagstone by putting on a buy nothing group. You can probably get someone to take it off your hands for free, vs having to pay someone to remove them.
most people who have rocks they want gone think they are valuable. most people who want rocks only think they are valuable if they are delivered and placed by someone else.
Yep keep it
YES! Keep them. OMG, you could make a magical crevice garden out of that. Make a pile of them, pack soil into all the empty spaces, and fill those soil spots with small plants, especially groundcovers.
As they are now it makes a good home for mice & snakes
Larger ones maybe. But the small stuff not really
I just yesterday got a quote for unsorted stone 1 to 5 inches in height and better for building than your jumble of stuff for $123 a ton in PA, way out in the middle of nowhere. You’ve got I’m guessing 4-6 tons, hard to tell with the pictures. It will never be worth that much to a landscaper because he’s got better shit to do with himself or his workers than to pick that up by hand. People saying it’s worth good money are the same people that don’t understand logistics on commodity goods is everything. Good luck finding somebody
Absolutely! Great stonewall material. Somebody wants those stones.
“Used” rocks is a hilarious concept
I’ve sold planted bushes…I was paid for someone to come and dig them up.
No way, great money maker, some rocks are more popular than plants
Start on market place for $20 bucks for all/large $10 for small /all .
If no takers mark it down to free
The big ones are worth more, but the hassle is in the moving of them
Technically, I think all rocks are “used”. On account of them being billions of years old. (The more you knooooow 🎶)
Don’t expect any payment, you will be doing well to give them away. If you have a disposal area, take 10 rocks a day and dump them
No, it’s not…
Used landscaping rocks?? So rocks???
If you were near me I would come get them.
they are worth money if you build something out of it but generally speaking no one will buy used rock unless it is a diy scenario and you may not get much for it for the amount of effort needed to get rid of it
rock taken from a previous installation will never match new material when mixed since the older material has weathered since purchase
giving it away for free saves you money in dump fees
There’s value if you deliver them….
Otherwise you’ll do well to get someone to pick them up for free.
About 3 cents per pound
Probably for a landscape somewhere
I dont know, I like my rocks New. Just kidding not sure how you get new rocks other than when magma cools and solidifies. I would be interested in buying the large rocks but if I have to pick them up the price would be maybe a few bucks for each large rock.
Sure how much you want to pay me to take them?
Depends, are you Jenny from the Block?
I always post stuff for free. There is always some one that can use it
If you want to try and sell them, go around to some Landscaping Companies and ask them. Try to sell them first and if nobody inquires then put it on Marketplace like someone else suggested
We bought rocks out of a guys front yard the other weekend. I’m pretty sure he put a price on them so he wouldn’t get wackos saying they were coming and never show up.
Used rock
