Spring has finally arrived at Sugarwood, (fingers crossed,) and I’m busy making plans for all of the gardens, working on the inside of the home, and withe the barn complete, the sugar shack which will be made into my new potting shed sometime this year.

  1. Hello Kindred Spirits! I enjoyed so much time outside this week, I mean A LOT, and I was concerned I would not have time to put a video together for you, but here it is. I do not show it in this video, but I even found an old well, another foundation, and possibly old rough and now out-of-place- field stone steps from the well to the foundations on the upper hill, but I need to do a little more clearing before I confirm.

  2. Love Willow, as still as a statue! What a sweet pup! I think I am a New Englander at heart. Here I am in Tx, and the heat is so tiring! Miss all my plants from when we lived in the Midwest and the East. I so enjoy your videos and all your energy! Happy Easter to you and your family ❤

  3. Part of the charm of older homes are the restoration of original details especially doors. When you mention you may put French doors on the sugar shack, I cringed. Doing that will completely change the look of this little gem. If you must do this consider adding sliding French-style doors on the inside and leave the original doors intact on the outside. Consider the homes and out buildings you have shared in other towns in your videos. Their details make their style unique compared to new homes. It’s the simple details on older structure that add unique characteristics. The small red building on your property adds a special charm. Please do not get caught in the slippery slope of distracting the charm of your property replacing old with new.

  4. Thank you again l really enjoyed outside your very blessed to have the land and home you have. God bless always enjoy everything you show.

  5. I loved this video – you preparing for spring while I am in autumn and am preparing my garden for winter.

  6. Linda, I noticed a couple of shingles on your front door down at the bottom near your gutter is raised– you might want to get it nailed back down so water doesn't get up under it. Iris's are hearty little dickens- you can't kill them. I accidentally poured a bleach floor cleaner on some of ours years ago, and those things still came back. After a few years, all of the pretty colored ones will go back to purple though.

  7. Perhaps interior double wooden screened doors in the sugar shack? Keep insects out and allow a nice breeze in the warmer months. Could Ben or you please do a video clip on using that rototiller with feedback? I'd like to start getting my own tools.

  8. It almost looks like you could turn the birdbath upside down and bury the stem. Happy Spring this week finally.

  9. hello Linda, always like your content – beautiful landscape, thrifting, recipes and gardening with your companion and guardian angel Willow💖💖💖

  10. Willow "standing post"..❤ We have had Coyotes in our yard at times and they scare the "you know what" out of me. I, for one, would love to see some Wedding snippets. I silently wondered why you didn't film at least the decorations and could absolutely understand not filming the events. I think the last post of any wedding updates was when you went to Camden and Rockland…

  11. I’d like to see how the original birdbath looked. The one that shattered from the snow. I can’t picture it. 🥹

  12. Linda, you have a lot as usual going on. It will all be great when finished. By the way how is the problem with hair loss going? I hope the doctor is able to help you out.

  13. I'm still looking at about 3" of snow where I am, so watching you is definitely giving me the gardening itch! Just wondering, what are you doing in the new barn to deter field mice etc? … it is a very inviting space for them. Hope you had a wonderful weekend!

  14. Linda if you are planting any flower, bushes, trees, herbs or flowers you must… MUST use Bio-tone. If you do not use you are wasting your money on all of your gardening planting. Also if you don’t want your plants to die you must water and fertilize with Miracle Grow weekly. Gardening is not an easy hobby but the rewards are great. I am a Master Garden and highly recommend this process. Happy planting!

  15. Missing you this Sunday. Hope all is well with you. I enjoy your videos; they remind me of my younger days, and they make me happy. Take care.

  16. Hope you had and are having a great Easter weekend..and Boston Marathon too. Sunny, warm planting in southeastern NC. Can't wait to see all your new plants etc.next week. Miss you but know you are enjoying being outside. Tea next week. Be well.

  17. Yes, I got tge vibe something was going on. So glad to hear all is back together and safe. Please take the time. As an older "kindred spirit" I know how important taking the time is. Be well, best wishes for Willow, Mom ,Ben and You. See you next time.😊

  18. Bulb leaves can be braided to neaten them up. It allows the energy from the leaves to return to the bulb. It sounds fussy but it's tidy and cute.
